Review: Mary Kay TimeWise Repair Volu-Firm Set

This post has been sponsored by Mary Kay and their consultant Ana Klundt.  I was given this set in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own and are not influenced by any one or any company.

I grew up with Mary Kay all around me.  My mom used it.  Everyone in my small church used it.  It seemed like everyone I knew sold it.  I grew up going to facials and makeover parties.  They were fun.

As an adult I would go to the occasional Mary Kay party.  They always dealt with makeup and I never (still don't) wear much makeup.  I ended up writing Mary Kay off.

Then I was asked to try out the Time Wise Repair Volu-Firm set.  I don't wear makeup so I have never really taken care of my face.  I mean, isn't washing your face just for washing your makeup off?  I never cared much because I was blessed with clear skin.  But...I have started noticing some lines and sagging skin.  Is this supposed to happen at 32?  Maybe I should have been taking care of my skin all along?

When I was asked to try out the Time Wise set I started looking into it and asking questions.  This set is not only for those who already see advanced signs of aging but for people like me who are just now noticing those wonderful little lines.  Ugh!

First, I want to tell you a little about Mary Kay.  I am not a big spender.  I am very frugal so Mary Kay is usually out of my price range.  One thing that hooked me is that all of their products are satisfaction guaranteed.  This means that if you get a product home and find out that it doesn't work for you, simply let your consultant know.  This does not harm your consultant at all.  They will either refund your money or exchange the product for another.  Another thing that hooked me is that you are supporting a small business.  Wait!  What?  Yep!  Each consultant is their own small business.  You are supporting WAHM's, women with second jobs, single mothers, the list goes on and on.  Support Local!

Ok, now back to Time Wise.  The Time Wise Repair set is a five piece set.  The set includes:

  • Volu-Firm Foaming Cleanser
  • Volu-Firm Lifting Serum
  • Volu-Firm Day Cream Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30
  • Volu-Firm Night Treatment with Retinol
  • Volu-Firm Eye Reneral Cream
"TimeWise Repair combines extensive research, innovative ingredients and comprehensive testing to deliver the benifits that target the advanced signs of skin aging."

The TimeWise Repair Set reduces the look of deep lines and wrinkles, restores the appearance of lifted contours and recaptures youthful volume.  It also comes with a Good Housekeeping Award!  Those are not easy to come by.

So...does it work?  I started my Mary Kay trial five weeks ago.  I was hoping to see a difference in my forehead, neck, dark circles under my eyes and overall skin tone.

Here is my day one picture (no judging please, I didn't realize that I was not smiling whatsoever until after I took the picture) side by side with my day three picture.
All pictures are taken in my bathroom with zero outside light.  All were taken with my iPad.  I tried keeping everything the same.

You may not see a difference but I can.  Notice the dark areas under my eyes.  I have always had dark circles under my eyes, nothing has been able to work (except now).

Here is day 7:

Day 14:
Day 21:

What do I think?  I can tell you that I can see a HUGE difference in my under eye darkness.  My skin feels moisturized.  My skin is soft.  My pores are no longer as plugged as they were.

So how does all of this work?

Twice a day I wash my face with the Volu-Firm Foaming Cleanser.  This cleanser is very creamy and really does foam!  I use the Mary Kay cleansing brush to apply it to my face.  You can find my review of the brush here.  If you are frugal like me, when the cleanser seems to run out cut the top off of the bottle.  There should still be two or three days worth of cleanser in there.

Next I use the Volu-Firm Lifting Serum at morning and night.  This is also known as a "face lift in bottle."  You do not need a lot of the serum.  It goes on to the skin like silk.  I apply this to my forehead, chin/neck and the rest gets applied around my mouth and the corners of my eyes.

Now is where the day and night creams come in.  In the morning I apply the Volu-Firm Day Cream and at night I use the Volu-Firm Night Treatment.  I never really used face creams before because they would always leave my face feeling greasy and I would end up sweating it off.  The day cream is light, does not feel greasy and only sweats off if I am extremely hot.
This jar has a suction to it.  You push down on the top to pull the cream out.  When it runs out, it runs out.  Because it uses suction you do not have to worry about taking the jar out and scraping the last bits out of the jar, there won't be any.  A frugal tip to try: I only use half of a pump of cream.  I usually do not need a full pump.

The last part of the set is the Volu-Firm Eye Renewal Cream.  This stuff is A-MAZING!  It only takes a small amount of the cream but the cream is not even the best part.  The metal ball applicator is the best part.  This applicator was actually designed by NASA.  The ball is also made of the same material that boxers use to reduce bruising and swelling.  Seriously, give this stuff a try!  It did take the full first three days to see a difference but man oh man!  There is a difference whether the camera caught it or not.

You can purchase the set by visiting Ana Klundt's Mary Kay page.  She would love to be your consultant.  You should also know that you can purchase this as a kit or you can purchase certain pieces or you can also mix and match from other sets.  How wonderful!  By buying the kit you also save $36!

You really don't have anything to loose!  Give it a try!
