**This post is sponsored by the publishing group Thomas Nelson. I was given this book to review. All opinions are my own and are not persuaded by the publisher.**
I love a good suspense book. I guess it is in the genes. My parents both love suspense books, my dad sways a bit more on the Stephen King side of suspense but suspense nonetheless.
The publishing group Thomas Nelson sent me the book A Deadly Business: A Mia Quinn Mystery by Lis Wiehl. I was excited to read a book by an author I had never read before.
A Deadly Business is the second in the Mia Quinn Mystery series. Although I plan on going back and reading the first book I do not find it necessary to read the first to read the second. I did not feel lost and I feel as though all of the characters were outlined well.
Mia Quinn is a lawyer whose husband recently died in a car accident. Mia is now dealing with her husbands death, trying to handle being a single parent to two children, getting back in the swing of things after returning to her previous carrier as a lawyer as well as shuffling every day life.
Mia's carreer has her going in a million different directions. You follow her through a new case in which she must decide if three 15 year old boys created an intentional malicious act towards someone or if it was an accident. Should three 15 year old boys be tried as juveniles or adults.
You learn in the beginning that the accident that Mia's husband was in may not have been an accident. He may also not have been the loving and caring husband he seemed to be. This mystery has everything great, suspense, lies, money, jewlery and much more.
I will make it known that the writing has a few week points. The narrative towards the beginning of the book could use a lot of work but overall it is well written and easy to read. You will not want to put this book down towards the last 40 pages. It is a nail biter!
The book also contains a great reading group guide. If you belong to a book club you may want to check out this series. It would make for some interesting conversation.
