I am a lover of Asian food. My favorite is Thai food. YUM! I usually do not buy frozen foods though. The meat never comes out right and the sides are either too soggy or have zero flavor.
Chatterbox.com and Tai Pei asked me to try some of thier new line of frozen foods with a few of my friends. I was anxious to try them since I had never had a good experience with frozen asian food before. I was given vouchers to pick up two of each of their food categories, meat, vegetables, rice and sauces.
I had a hard time deciding which items I wanted to try with my friends. I ended up choosing:
Meat: Tempura Battered Chicken Breast & Battered Dark Meat Chicken.
Vegetables: Thai-Style Vegetables & Japanese-Style Vegetables
Rice: Garden Vegetable Rice & White Rice
Sauce: Thai-Style Yellow Curry & Tangerine Ginger
Everything was extremely easy to heat. You have the option of making everything together as a meal or heating everything separately. Since I have a friend who is a vegetarian and we were feeding children I decided to heat everything separately.
The meat heats in just 15 minutes in the oven, or you can heat it on the stovetop. The rice cooks in the microwave in its own bag. The vegetables are easy to heat in a skillet with a bit of oil and the sauce heats in some hot water (although I had to open my bags and heat them in the microwave).
Everything was GONE!! There was just a bit of the sauces left over and that was it! It was incredibly DELICIOUS!! The meat was PERFECT! It was cooked all the way through and was still crispy, not soggy. The vegetables were good. They could have been a bit more flavor-able but still the best I have had that was frozen. The rice was rice. The ginger sauce was INCREDIBLE!! I could have just eaten this by itself. The curry was ok. The texture was a bit off but the taste was great.
All in all, I recommend Tai Pei Made to Order. The prices are very reasonable and the taste is impeccable. You can pick up an entire meal for $10. We had two meals and fed five adults and five children.
Go try some Tai Pei and let me know what you had and what you thought!
