Cheap Living: Phone Apps

I love freebies! Who doesn't? Over the last few years I have been compiling different free apps that either save you money, give you money or give you freebies. Sounds pretty great right?

Lets get to it:

Survey Mini (iPhone only)

This is GREAT!!! Survey Mini is a free app that rewards you with either gift cards or in-store rewards. Survey Mini will alert you on your phone when you have a new survey to take.

There are two different types of surveys. One, they will send you a survey after you have been in an establishment. I usually get them when I enter Target, Auto Zone, Sonic or even our Kansas City Zoo. Two, the typical informational survey. The survey's usually take just a few seconds. You are either rewarded with points or with a mobile coupon. I have received coupons for free drinks at Sonic and zoo cash to use at the zoo. You can also save up your points and redeem them for different gift cards. I have redeemed some of mine recently for a $25 gift card for AMC theaters. Free movies!!

Bonus: it is a KC based company!

Retail Me Not (iPhone and Google Play)

I do not use this one often but it is nice having it. Retail Me Not will give you mobile coupons to use at major retailers like JC Penny, DSW, Party City and more. It is nice to check it before going to a major retailer to see if I can save a bit more cash.

Cartwheel (iPhone and Google Play)

I use this one ALL THE TIME! Cartwheel is an app by Target. It is very easy to use. Cartwheel has coupons that are only available on their app. You can simply search by key word or you can scan the barcode of your items to see if there is a way to save some moolah. I use this in conjuction with paper coupons and my Target card. I have walked out of Target amazed by the amount of money I have saved in one trip.

Shopkick (iPhone and Android)

Shopkick rewards you for entering different establishments and then searching for specific items and scanning them in. Think of it like a scavenger hunt. I don't usually have time to search for items but havereceived points for entering stores like Old Navy and American Eagle. As far as I can tell you do have to manually check in to these stores, they don't automatically notice you are there like Survey Mini. You can save up your points and receive rewards like iTunes, Starbucks and Target gift cards or goods such as flowers, handbags, clothes or cameras.

Checkout 51 (iPhone and Google Play)

I LOVE this one! This app pays you for buying groceries. Unlike other apps where you have to purchase name brand items, this one rewards you for any brand. My favorite reward is the one for milk. It pays you 50 cents for buying a gallon of milk. Another current reward is 50 cents for strawberries. Fifty cents! Strawberries are only 99 cents at Aldis right now. This means you can pick up strawberries for 49 cents! To receive your rewards you simply upload a picture of your receipt, the entire receipt. You also receive $2 for FREE just for signing up!!
