our St. Patrick's day version 2

I had some fun planned for the kiddos today.  We were going to go to church and then walk the two blocks to Kansas City's big St. Patrick's day parade.  Oldest and I were pretty excited.  It was supposed to be in the 50's and a sunny day.
L didn't want to sit on the couch with her sisters.
(V took this one.  She did a great job!)

Here is what we really did.  Stayed in bed a little bit longer than normal.  We stayed home all day. All of this because the actual temperature was in the 30's with snow.  Yep, in one week the temperature changed twenty degrees.  On top of this the husband had to work late meaning he would be missing church.  Since the parade is so close to our church building we were told that we would have a hard time finding a parking space.  No husband, three kids, freezing temps, crazy (possibly already inebriated) parade goers and hard to find parking did not bode well with me.

After disappointing the kids with the news that we would be staying home I decided to make them some rainbow sprinkled pancakes.

Next I sent them on a "green" scavenger hunt.  I gave them three minutes to pile up as many items with green on them as they could find.  They found quite a bit. Here is just a sampling of their finds.

Next we sat on the couch and had a great time watching the parade from our nice warm and cozy home.  I found out that was have the second largest St. Patty's Day Parade in the nation who holds their parade on St. Patrick's Day.

After lunch and naps we had some gold and green painted fingers and toes.

Today wasn't anything like what I had planned but it ended up being pretty great.
