DIY: Button Earrings and a GIVEAWAY!

I love earrings. I always have. Unfortunately, my ears did not like them when I was a kid. My ears ripped around 20 years ago or so and I now have to be really careful about which earrings I buy.

I cannot wear the cute little studs or even the larger ones because those are usually too heavy. I have been wearing my pearls because they are not too small or heavy. I seriously love my pearls.

Sometimes a girl needs a change though. I was given a lot of cute buttons a year ago and held on to them not know what to do. I loved these cute floral buttons but didn't know what to put them on. That is when I decided to make them into earrings.

These buttons are large enough and extremely light weight, not to mention adorable.

This DIY is super easy and only takes three items; buttons, glue and earring posts.

If your buttons on like mine then they have an attachment loop on the back. You can't glue your posts on to these so you will need to remove them.

Mine came off cleanly with a pair of wire clippers. They snapped right off. If you choose flat backed buttons then you are lucky and do not have to worry about this step.

Now you just need to glue, E6000 works great for this, your posts on to the backs of your buttons. Make sure your posts are in the same position on each button and then let them dry for an hour, or more if needed.

Now these ice cream cones were a bit more tricky. I ended up having to take my Dremel to them and cleaning them up. The attachments on the back did not snap off cleanly.

Don't you just love them? Think of all the possibilities! It seems like every grandmother has at least one jar of buttons in their home. How lovely would it be to make some earrings out of your grandmothers buttons? These make great gifts as well. Make some now and stock up for Christmas early!
